Sawdust Festival Poster

Sawdust Festival Poster

I wanted to make a design that would follow these three criteria: appear professional and well made, speak to the Sawdust Art Festival itself, and of course follow the guidelines of the assignment. First I began by placing a pattern of wood in the background, which spoke to the sawdust aspect as well as the natural image they had. I liked the appearance of the background in the jazz man shape so I knew I wanted to place an image within the clipping path logo, Sawdust. I found the logo and transformed it as well as inverted it, having the image of trees in the framed part of the logo. I played with the stoke weight to create the text surrounding the logo. I used red, bright blue, and green because I saw a good amount of that on the website. I separated the information into columns and even used the Sawdust blob logo to bullet points that I though would be better separated. I also made the first letter of words beginning a paragraph larger, adding variety.
